Imagine arriving in northern Colombia with your kite gear, a small group of riders and seven days ahead of you.

There is no fixed resort waiting for you. There is no luxury bubble separating you from the place you came to discover.

Instead, there is the wind, the Caribbean, the desert, the road, small local communities and a landscape that changes as you move through La Guajira.

This is Kite Expedition Colombia: a journey following the wind through one of the most remote and fascinating regions of Colombia, for riders who, besides their passion for kiting, are passionate about discovering new conditions, places and cultures.

A day on the trip

No two days look the same. This is the rhythm, not a schedule.

  1. Morning

Wake up in a simple place near the coast, have breakfast and pack your kite.

  2. On the road

Head towards the next spot, chosen by the conditions.

  3. On the water

A coaching session where the wind is best that day.

  4. Midday

    Stop for a local lunch.

  5. Afternoon

Keep exploring, or ride again if the wind allows.

  6. Evening

Watch the sun disappear over the desert.

The next day may look completely different. That is part of the journey.

This is not a resort holiday.

The experience is intentionally different. You will not have everything delivered to you from behind the walls of an all-inclusive hotel.

You will travel through places where life is simpler, more direct and more connected to the environment. You will see how people live, work and move through northern Colombia, and experience the landscapes, the roads, the communities, the weather and the rhythm of the region instead of looking at them from a comfortable distance.

Photo brief. Sand track through the desert, a 4x4 with kites on the roof, afternoon light.

Sometimes travelling well means becoming comfortable with being a little less comfortable.

  • Adapting
  • Listening
  • Observing
  • Sharing

A memorable trip is not always the one with the most luxury. It is the one that gives you the most to remember.

And, of course, there is the kite.

The wind is what connects the journey. We move according to the conditions and explore different locations around La Guajira, looking for the right combination of wind, water and experience.

Along the way, the focus is not simply on riding more hours. You work on becoming a more capable and independent kitesurfer, in spots and conditions that are new to you.

  • Reading the wind
  • Understanding new spots
  • Improving your transitions
  • Recovering your board
  • Helping another rider
  • Mastering beach starts
  • Handling the situations every experienced kitesurfer should know

The coaching becomes part of the adventure. The adventure becomes part of the learning.

Seven days. A small group. A different way to travel.

The group is 10 to 15 riders. We keep it small because the experience depends on being able to move together, adapt to conditions and create a genuine connection between the people travelling.

It is designed for riders with a basic to intermediate level who are ready to progress, explore and experience Colombia beyond the usual holiday.
